CITYLIFE / Bars & Cafes Cheap fun (That's Shanghai) Updated: 2007-08-14 09:39 Tuya Bar is quite possibly the perfect student hangout: old-school graffiti on the walls, a Bob Marley show playing on one projection screen, a local soccer match on the other and a DJ spinning familiar songs. ? Oh, and of course, most drinks are priced under RMB 20. Taking our cue from the painted footprints, we ascended the inside stairwell to find groups of friends intent on their respective drinking games. And like any good dive, Tuya’s bartenders don't skimp on liquor; despite the bargain price, our RMB 20 White Russian was perfectly blended. The location is a bit remote for the downtown drinking crowd, but the nearby university and adjacent late-night pizza parlor should guarantee this place a steady scene. ? And with most bottles of liquor available for under RMB 300, Tuya is a boozy oasis for the city's cash-strapped but fun-loving students. Tuya Open: Daily 5pm-2am.
